Optimism is a great driver. It acts like a bridge carrying us forward. Throughout much of last year, when we had negligible on site production, I remained positive that Itac would cross those stormy waters and emerge fitter and better for the challenge. For the last few months we have been on ‘Terra Firma’ with our temporary production facility operating well, ensuring customer orders are fulfilled quickly and efficiently. Our new factory and warehouse is now at an advanced stage of design. It will incorporate many superior safety and production elements to aid our planned future development. With this in mind we are now in the process of recruiting new personnel, who will play key roles as we grow our business.
I recently attended BASA’s Annual General Meeting, one of the guest speakers was Geoff Meade MBE, a renowned journalist, personal friend and confidante of past and present senior politicians and public figures. He gave a talk on the topic of the moment, ‘the EU Referendum’. Currently based in Brussels, Geoff provided an informed and interesting insider’s view. However, at the end of the session, a show of hands revealed none of the adhesive and sealants professionals in the hall had been influenced to change their voting intention. With just two months to go politicians and business leaders are firmly split, as are financial and security chiefs. It seems to be harder than ever to get all the facts. Recent polls have proved inaccurate to outcomes, so it is difficult to say which way it will go. Confusion will surely mean that those who do vote will vote with their heart. For my part, well let’s just say, I’m an optimist.
