Volvo – famous for its ultra safe cars, has developed paint that could make cycling at night a whole lot safer.
The Swedish car maker is trialling an invisible spray paint through cycle shops in London. Early feedback is very positive and the product named LifePaint could soon be rolled out internationally. The spray can be applied to all sorts of items including clothing, shoes, helmets and bike frames. The further possibilities for LifePaint are extremely wide, as it could also be used on push chairs and children’s bags and clothing – even on animal collars, to make them far more visible at night when illuminated by vehicle headlights.
The European market for adhesives and sealants is growing. Research shows the total volume reached 4.3 million tonnes in 2014.
The UK market accounted for 10% of the whole with the largest user Germany at 19%. The table below shows the key country split.
