Happy New Year everyone.
Let’s hope it’s a good one. I say that with a little trepidation. As I write, all bets about an EU Brexit deal are off. Many are pushing for a second referendum. Another general election could be looming. Some say Brexit will never happen. The whole country is in a state of uncertainty. One thing is for sure about uncertainty – the longer it lasts the more damage it will do.
Against this background it may seem surprising that Forbes Magazine found the UK the best country in the world in which to do business for the second year in a row. Forbes takes everything into account, from property rights, innovation, taxes, technology, corruption, freedom (personal, trade and monetary), to red tape.
Despite all the brew-ha-ha around Brexit the UK economy is still growing. At Itac we’ve seen order enquiries hit the £1 million mark for the first time in our history.
Itac, like many other British manufacturers, continues to thrive. Of course, we have made some Brexit contingency plans. We are now moving forward, anticipating an exciting and prosperous 2019 – and I wish all our customers, suppliers and friends the same.
